Decided to take the risk but bought one locally, cake with dust behind the screen causing dead pixel effect. Thankfully I live in Australia where our consumer rights are very good. If anyone else knows of another comparable monitor, I'd gladly go with that, but there doesn't seem to be a direct competitor. (From my local Best Buy, so I can pick up a reliable warranty.) The CRG9 doesn't have Gsync, and the Neo G9 is like a thousand dollars more expensive with similar issues, so I'll probably be buying the G9 anyways. I'm currently shopping for a new monitor, and I can't find anything that seriously competes with the G9 except other Samsung monitors. With the current issues, the G9 definitely not worth paying 2500$ for, but they're currently selling for around 1k-1.3k, which is about the same price as two separate monitors with the same features/quality. The only other monitor that comes close is the previous generation CRG9, which doesn't come with Gsync, which is an essential feature for me. I'm aware that a lot of people are having issues with it, but I'm not aware of any other monitor that has the same number of features and the same resolution, aspect ratio, and refresh rate. Needless to say I'm very excited that we're finally getting a native 7680x2160 monitor so I can get the full benefit of running these games at that resolution.Subreddit of the 21:9 & 32:9 aspect ratio Join us on Discord! / Ultrawide Enthusiasts Games look noticeably much sharper when you run them at 7680x2160 with DLSS on because they're essentially running at the monitor's native 5120x1440 resolution combined with DLSS's anti-aliasing benefits. Many games seem to load lower resolution textures, even if they have 4K textures, if your resolution is set lower than 2160 vertical lines. Modern games look terrible running natively without DLSS because of aliasing but they also don't look great when they're running at 5120x1440 with DLSS. Modern post-processing based anti-aliasing is trash. One Piece Odyssey, Hogwarts Legacy, Hi-Fi Rush, Returnal and Forspoken all get more than x2160 resolution + DLSS Quality with an RTX 4090.Īs for why I do this when my Neo G9's resolution is only 5120x1440, the answer is quite simple. I get at least 60 FPS and some of them get up to 100-120 FPS. I play most new games that come out maxed out with Nvidia DSR set to 7680x2160 and I combine it with DLSS 3.1.1 set to Quality mode. RTX 4090 can handle it depending on how heavy the game is. Subreddit of the 21:9 & 32:9 aspect ratio Join us on Discord! / Ultrawide Enthusiasts
